I wish I had monies.

they are nice to look at, they also do a great job of depleting your wallet of monies

But it would be worth it.

One of my freinds has a 86 5.0 S, it has like 170k miles on it. He bought it about a year ago and literally just got it running after rebuilding the engine. We're gonna take it to the track next month

That is one beautiful machine! Your friend sounds like an interesting man.

oh, interesting is a tame way to put it.
The car is still a work in progress, I think he has a black interior to put in it. This car sat for 10 years in some sketchy ghetto. It didn't move because it had no trans fluid in it, then when he got it running it blew the water pump up, which prompted this full blown rebuild
This is what it looked like when he bought it
Heres one next to his last project, a 79 Z28 he dragged out of the woods and put a 350TPI in. He sold it to his neighbor and its now a hodge podge of fiberglass and riveted sheet metal.

I recently stumbled onto a 928 gathering on a country road. 6 pristine ones, all parked next to each other.
One of them was a manual, red w/ black interior S4. Now I need some money to fulfill a stupid dream that's gonna cost unreasonable amounts of money. Damn.

Get one as a project car. You can buy one for $2500 that is is need of everything but has good bones. Dump the original engine and tranny because they want to kill your wallet: $10k for a rebuild on the stock engine is bugnuts, and $5k for a trans. is redonkulous. Swap both for a LS1 and gearbox of choice. Reliability and cost of ownership will improve dramatically.

My hopes have risen. An LS powered 928 would be killer.

There are kits out there made for this purpose, if you do a Google search you'll find them. They start at $1,400 I think. I've never been in a 928 but have always admired the way they look. I'm tall and would love to be able to fit comfortably in one.
